The play on words for this one isn't a gold prize winner but Nice sure is! If you want to get anywhere close to any of the lovely locales I've previously described, you must first pay your respects to this lovely location in France (you must fly here then take a cab to any of the French Riviera locations). I absolutely loved Nice and if you want an alternative to the feeling you get in Paris, this is the place to come to do that. I myself adore a good Nespresso in the morning and that is what you will find directly in the center square. If you are not a fan of the chain coffee, Nice has a full row of little cafes and eateries for you to indulge in (please see below for one that I stopped in). While I was there, the three biggest things I did was: A little shopping, viewing of the city center and walked along the French beach coast which I must admit is not the most ideal terrain (full of tiny rocks) but the most gorgeous view! If you are a fan of South Beach, Miami this is a french carbon copy of Collins Ave...it's quite amazing the similarities. Another thing I loved was the soccer festival happening along the beach shores that allowed me to be a soccer player for a day and do some really cool interactive activities. Lastly, the really pretty water fountains on the way to the beach were not only entertaining but a wonder to watch.
General Consensus- If you're like me and Paris didn't "Blow you away" like most of the worlds population, Nice is the next best place to be. Nice has a beautiful heart to it and the plus is that it has a gorgeous shore-line to go with it...how often can you say that? I would recommend Nice to the more low-key traveler who wants to see a pretty city before they head off to Cannes, Monaco or Saint-Tropez.
