Behold, Belgium

Updated: Mar 20, 2022

One country that I had wanted to visit for a few years but didn't get the chance to previously was Belgium. Each year I had been to Amsterdam and never to it's sister country but in 2018 I changed that and visited Brussels. The hotel I had the pleasure of staying at was the (Members only content location) on Ave Louise (the prominent shopping location in the city center) and little did I know it would become the 4th best hotel I've stayed in the world. When Luxury and opulence have something to prove they put it in the form of a hotel like this one and the biggest highlight was the Sunday Brunch in the atrium of the hotel. The bathroom alongside the Shard in London was 1 of the best bathrooms I've ever seen from the marble to the sistine chapel like countertops and surroundings. The Grand Palace in the center of Brussels is the big attraction and making my way down there I stopped for Belgian chocolate waffles for dessert that didn't disappoint! My dinner was fairly average but the waffle my goodness! The streets feel so quaint and quiet and when it rained in this little town it felt so comforting. I rented a car simply because there were 2 destinations (Brugge and Nemo 33) I had to visit and a 3rd (Ghent) I sadly didn't get to. Brugge was a fantastic delight, I had steak and frites at (Members only content location) and then walked along the Venice type roads where I was able to snap some great shots and take in some lovely views. (Members only content location) is the deepest dive pool in the world but you do need to be certified or be with a certified diver before you can just plunge in and you also need a reservation. The next day, (Members only content location) was beautiful and secluded but unfortunately did not make the top spas list, however I still encourage you to visit if you are in need of a good spa day.

General Consensus: If you are visiting the sister town of Amsterdam or Luxembourg this little slice of heaven is only about a 2 or 3 hour drive so I highly recommend hitting the road. If you are looking for somewhere to relax and soak in some lovely European culture, delicious desserts (waffles of coarse) I would add Belgium to the list.
