Florence Nightingale

Updated: Mar 31, 2022

So you know I will be forever honest about my travel experiences...Florence will be no different. There are 2 locations in Italy that did not blow me away but the 65 year old woman in me did jump out of her skin. Florence and Pisa are on those lists of locations you should see if you have time and are close enough to justify the journey. Florence is the home to the statue of David and some beautifully structured museums and churches...but really that's about it. Your mother and grandmother will convince you to head to this adorable little part of Italy and like I stated before it's worth the stop to see some of these wonders as well as engage in some touristy activities, including cute souvenir shops. One thing I do not recommend is heading all the way to Italy and making this your main destination. The food is delicious, no worries there, but nothing you can't get in a better part of Italy say Rome or Amalfi.

General Consensus: I would not make Florence a main attraction on your travels to Italy...in fact you would be doing yourself a great injustice to go against that warning. I would however add this as a day trip from Rome or Tuscany which are far more exciting parts of Italy to visit than Florence. If you are visiting with family then yes, if you are doing a girls trip or a guys trip and you get to hammered to even remember to visit...you didn't miss out.
