Hong Kong, a bustling metropolis on the southeastern coast of China, is a city that never fails to captivate visitors with its unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures. From towering skyscrapers to serene temples, Hong Kong offers a fascinating mix of modernity and tradition.
One of the most striking features of Hong Kong is its stunning skyline, dominated by futuristic high-rise buildings that light up the night sky. If you're wondering the best means to get around I would stick with Taxi or the subway station. The subway (and likely other modes of buses and trams) feels to easy to navigate, very affordable and incredibly safe. When going on my dinner cruise tour [Members Only Location] I felt so safe and it was about 2 mins and a 10 min walk from the station. Downtown is very lively and visually distracting in all the best ways. The hotels and luxury shopping locations near the wharf/water could cause a delay in any plans you may have. My rented condo had an incredible view [Members Only Location] and an extremely helpful staff to give me tips on getting around and fun Christmas area locations. Visitors can experience cultural fusion in the city's diverse culinary scene, which offers everything from traditional dim sum to international fine dining. Cruising along the river and looking at the buildings line-up and light-up like a city from Bladerunner 2095 was no doubt one of my favorite and most serene moments. Despite its reputation as a concrete jungle, Hong Kong is also home to breathtaking natural landscapes. Visitors can escape the urban hustle and bustle by hiking in the lush green hills surrounding the city or taking a boat trip to the picturesque outlying islands. Lantau Island was my stop for prayer and gratitude but if you opt to leave the city there are a few locations you can tack on to see the Big Buddha at Lantau Island [Members Only Locations]. Disneyland Hong Kong was the main reason for visiting this amazing city and it did not disappoint! The landscape of the Disney Hotel is stunning and the customer service and care is even more brag-worthy. I was blessed to have the Cinderella Suite and you can head over to Destination Disney to catch a peek at how that looks. Here I was able to get THE best tea I've ever had and have still not been able to locate the name of the tea or where else I can find it in the world but hey it came with a Cinderella popcorn bucket. The room was perfectly decorated and complete with a carriage couch where the Disney Movie selection was endless. Lastly, the Frozen addition (Arendalle to be exact) to Hong Kong Disney was everything I wanted it to be and made me feel like the 3rd royal sister. Fun themed treats, amazingly accurate decor and an entire and faithful recreation of the Arendalle from the film. In conclusion, Hong Kong is a city of contrasts where tradition meets modernity, and East meets West. Whether you are a food lover, a history buff, a nature enthusiast, or a shopping addict, Hong Kong has something to offer everyone. So, next time you're looking for a destination that will both inspire and delight, consider a trip to this vibrant and dynamic city.
General Consensus: Hong Kong is an AMAZING city and though I loved it and found it fun, peaceful and safe....going across the water to Macau was my highlight for this trip. Disney would be a huge recommendation for families and I would bring the kiddies on that part but this was very NYC of Asia and I have a love/hate relationship with that city. Downtown Hong Kong is my biggest suggestion and this location is for anyone looking to cross Hong Kong off a list (Tokyo is more my speed).
