Hotel Transylvania

Updated: Mar 21, 2022

Imagine logging onto Facebook one day and seeing an ad for Air BnB telling you that you could win a free trip to stay in Dracula's Castle in Romania. Imagine being a huge horror fan and thinking, I likely won't win that contest but what's stopping me from going there anyway? That was how my trip to Bucharest and Transylvania began. Bucharest Romania was a quiet little city (happens to be the capital though) and I wasn't expecting to get much out of this town but what I did get was a great surprise and one that would land on the honorable mention list for best day parties. Starting with the Castle experience, this was the one place to go to really see some enchanting and hopefully haunted castles haha. My first castle took me 3 hours out of Bucharest and straight to Pelle's Castle, one of the most gorgeous estates I've ever seen and also a place I wouldn't want to stick around after dark. This castle was truly something you'd see in a movie or a darker version of a fairytale and I loved every minute of walking through it. 3 hours past that brought me to Dracula's Castle and that was everything I wanted it to be...eerie and ancient. You get to learn the whole history of Vlad the impaler (Dracula) and the town leading up to this castle is active and quite interesting if you get the chance to walk down and do some sight seeing. Heading back to my hotel, I saw a sign for a day party and spa that I thought to myself "I'll have to check that out tomorrow" and I did just that, but more on that in a minute. Before heading to the spa I did get a chance to stop at the Romanian Parliament building as well as one of the prettiest libraries in the world (literally I looked up the list and it's on there, along with one that I will cover in Ireland). So let's talk quickly about the Thermabad I visited...aka this day party and spa. It was so amazing, I ate food and danced in the outdoor section as well as relaxed by the pool in the indoor section. Children are allowed so be mindful of that and plan accordingly if you don't want to party around children (or just get really liquored up).

General Consensus: I had a very specific mission going to Romania and that was for Dracula's Castle (which also was a 3 hour drive from the main part of the city). If you have no interest in doing any of those activities Romania is not a must on the bucket list, just a cool place I was able to visit.
