As much as I didn't expect it, Turkey was another holy pilgrimage that left me feeling whole and like I had something to offer to this world. We had an amazing Turkish guide who led us all over and she was so warm, welcoming and knowledgeable when she spoke of her country. Kusadasi was the city I visited and I had the chance to light candles at the house of Mary and walk the ancient streets of Ephesus. I'll start with visiting Mary's home, this experience was so incredible and truly allowed me to reflect on past, present and future parts of my life. You can choose to do the tour or walk around on your own terms but the best thing they let you do is light a candle for anything in your life that may need light and guidance which just felt so magical to me (I'm a spiritual kind of girl but if you are not no worries, plenty of other things to do). The next best thing was roaming the ancient city of Ephesus which gave me Rome vibes with all the ruins and history. This was a tour I highly recommend and honestly the 1 out of 2 things to really do in this part of Turkey. I was also able to visit Lake Bafa Nature Park and the vista here was stunning, one of the top I've seen maybe ever. You were able to canoe here and do other activities but due to time constraints I was only able to visit and have a quick walk around the lake line.
General Consensus: There are other parts of Turkey that are far more alluring I will be very honest here. I would say if your in Turkey and close enough to Kusadasi make a stop here but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit or come here exclusively if you aren't on a religious mission.
