So Barcelona and Ibiza were already crossed off the list for Spanish adventures....this leads one to believe: What Else You got Spain? The answer to that question actually came in a set; Madrid & Mallorca! Mallorca post can be found here but Madrid was a wonderful little gem that I'm so happy my friend stumbled upon and invited me to. I have to start with my favorite part of Madrid that is likely now my favorite means of transportation ever anywhere; The Electric Scooter. Similar to a quick bike rental in NYC, you can easily download an app and get anywhere in the city in 10 mins or less in the bike lane via electric scooter. My wonderful tour guide/friend Tam discovered this when she was in a different part of Spain and I'm so sad this is not normal means of travel everywhere in the world (probably in Asia). For less the 4 or 5 euros per ride this was easily the funnest and fastest way to travel and see all my favorite things about any European city (the buildings). Moral of the story; take the electric scooter everywhere and save yourself any transportation headache. Let's get to my favorite part...the food and leisure! Paella is the traditional and big highlight in this country and to be fair and transparent; I didn't have 1 plate of it while in either. I did have it when I visited Barcelona a few years back and it was fabulous so make sure you stop almost anywhere (preferably one of the street markets) for some Paella. My favorite light appetizers and drinks happened at (Members Only Content) and the table to table service was a sweet added treat from our hostess. We wanted to get a rooftop photo at the famous path-walk at the (Members Only Content) but the perfect shot was impossible because the best angle is closed off for the staff to serve food/drinks but you must come here for both (light bites, drinks and great music/vibes) to truly say you have experienced Madrid from the best arial/sky view. I had a fabulous spa experience at (Members Only Content) and the second you step off the elevator the hallway smells like fresh flowers and heaven. The decor of the pool area was one of the most elegant setups I've seen since the #1 Spa in London and the service was just as peaceful and relaxing. The (Members Only Content) Garden was HUGE and it was hot so be prepared for the walk, energy and effort if you want a photo or video of the famous Madrid Crystal House but it is one of the most beautiful nature walks I've had in a while. Lastly, the (Members Only Content) museum was a must-see if you are a religious soul and want to see some of the most inspiring paintings outside of the sistine chapel in Italy.
General Consensus: I honestly (like Italy) have not experienced one bad part of Spain. The people are a little sassy and the service outside of any luxury chain is not going to be as pleasant as an Italy or UK would be but the buildings, the culture, the Paella and the party will NOT disappoint. Get the crew ready...Madrid is definitely a must-do girls/boys trip or even a family friendly destination.
