If your a George Clooney fan or Gianni Versace guru, this remote Italian lake will sound pleasantly familiar to you. Lake Como is another one of Italy's best kept secrets and can be compared to the French Riviera of France... expensive, exclusive, remote and lux. This is the place you go when you want to show up and show off and the best part is that it isn't far from Milan; this means after you drink and party your life away you can come here to unwind from it all. I completely loved our quiet digs in the (Members only content location) with it's beautiful pool and lush gardens/grounds it made for the picture perfect vacation/birthday that one only sees in a museum painting. This was also a little drive away from Milan but not nearly as horrifying of a drive as Amalfi and actually the opposite experience in terms of terrain. The small mountain streets are difficult to navigate make no mistake, but again travel along them during the day and with precision and you should be fine. We had a car, again I'm very particular about the transportation I take in any city (I get bad car sick also) and it was very helpful in getting us to the shoppes for wine and food as well as getting us to my favorite food destination which was at the (Members only content location). When walking us back to our table that sat right along the edge of the lake, I don't know what was more beautiful, the hotel or the view. The food was very good and the presentation was fantastic..they also get a plus 1 for getting us a table quickly when everything was booked up and the excellent customer service we got after our meal. My favorite ending to this extraordinary trip was our drinks and cheese experience in the T bar at the (Members only content location). The lobby and elevator at this hotel alone screams opulence and lux vibes (service was a bit slow but the presentation of the vista slightly made up for that). 2 other activities that we engaged in was a fabulous dinner at a location I can't disclose due to the exclusive nature I try to give my best friend when she picks out these amazing spots but just know I could have slept in the drive-way or back yard and been comfortable (a location George Clooney frequents). Also the boat ride we took around the lake was extremely pleasant and easy to navigate, bringing us to a little strip of delicious lunch spots.
General Consensus: If you are visiting Milan and don't go to Lake Como you are doing yourself a great injustice. I'm not going to sugar coat this; this place is crazy expensive but if you have some money left over from Milan or you plan on visiting Italy just for Lake Como I give a major thumbs up for both options.
