I'm going to start my homage to Italy by highlighting one of the best cities on earth: Rome. Italy falls under the 3rd best place in the world I've been to (see here for number 1) and let me tell you it does not disappoint! When it comes to beautiful structure and buildings so old your great great grandmother would still recognize them today, Rome not only pleases the eye but the traveler at heart. Some of my favorite typical locations in Rome include: The Trevi Fountain (come here if you want to place a wish to fall in love) - The Vatican (come here if you want to pay your respects to God & his holiness the Pope) - The Colosseum (If you want to cheer on some of Rome's most famous leaders) - Shoppes (because it wouldn't be a Mela review without a visit to Chanel or Versace) - (Members only content location) (delicious pasta and buffalo mozzarella bar). One experience I had in Rome, that at the time I would have ditched immediately because it was incredibly early for me and I'm not a morning gal but ended up adoring, was a walk through the park. I am eternally grateful to my best friend Tessa for dragging me through the early morning heat (peak summertime in Rome on this day) through the beautiful park known as Monte Pincio. The stroll was quite lovely as was the scenery along the walk that ultimately lead me to Chanel (she knows what I like, what can I say). The park leads to the main center square of some lovely shoppes and cafes so make this a priority walk when hitting the streets of Rome.
Monte Pincio Park
General Consensus- If there are only 2 places in Italy you have time to visit Rome should be number 1 (Positano should be number 2 and you can find that post here). Not only is it the more affordable part of Italy but also the most historic and nursing for the mind, body and soul.
